Announcing the East Grand Rapids Touchdown Club – a non-profit organization of parents, community members and friends committed to enriching the football experience of our players and coaches and continuing the East Tradition of Excellence.
The EGR Touchdown Club is new, cutting edge and exciting. While EGR High School and EGR Team Boosters are generous and helpful in supporting the football program’s most basic needs, a football specific booster club can help create a truly top-notch football experience for our players and community by supporting additional needs such as practice and game technology, innovative software for practice and game operations and staff development through all levels of the program.
Thus, the EGR Touchdown Club was created. This is a large group of football parents, committed community members, EGR alum and friends of football who want to see the East Tradition of football succeed. The head East football coach will assess needs for its program and submit grant requests to the EGR Touchdown Club board. The board will meet and grant the requests it can fund and/or deems are most beneficial. This can include something small such as paying for a hotel night for all coaches when they are at a training conference or bigger items such as a drone for practice management. This allows the coach to drive what cutting-edge items that will impact the football program.
In the past, if the football program needed technology such as a tv for game-day replay, it was funded through fundraisers and donations from that year’s players. This was a short-term solution to a long-term problem. With the EGR Touchdown Club, the money generated will support the program for years to come.
